MARIE TOKARSKI

MARIE TOKARSKI (nee DUBOWSKI) went to celebrate her 89th New Years Birthday with our Lord. On December 31, 2012 she peacefully joined her husband Theodore, of 57 years. Resident of Munster, IN and formerly of Gary and Portage, IN. Born January 1, 1924 ( a ?New Years baby? as Marie always bragged) in Gary, IN to Michael and Mary (Gudel) Dubowski, she attended Emerson High School. On September 10, 1949 she married Theodore ?Ted? Tokarski who preceded her in death in 2006. Marie was a hard worker, and owned and operated her and her husband's local grocery store (Fairview Groceries) for many years in East Glen Park. She was a strong, dedicated and devoted mother. Beloved mother of Ann Tokarski of Schererville, Ted (Sherril) Tokarski and Michael (Donna) Tokarski of Portage. Cherished grandmother of four grandsons: Joshua Sterne, Alex and Jonathan Tokarski, and Ron Warkentien. Caring great grandmother of Hailey and Kristin Warkentien. Dearest sister to Helen (late Bill) Morgan of Paonia, CO. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. And a wonderful cousin too. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Theodore ?Ted?, wonderful parents: loving sister: Lillian (Edward) Knapp, and caring brothers Joseph and Fr. George Dubowski. She was a forty eight year member of American Legion Auxiliary, Tadeusz Kozeciuszko unit #207, longtime member of Polish National Alliance Madame Currie Circle Lodge #3134. Former parishioner of St. Hedwigs; Blessed Sacrament, and Nativity of Our Savior parishes. Current member of St. Michael's parish in Schererville, IN. Devoted to her family, Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with a Madame Curie prayer service at 3:00 p.m., American Legion Auxiliary service at 3:30 p.m., and a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 9:45 A.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:30 A.M. from St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, ( 1 W. Wilhelm St. Schererville) with Rev. Martin Dobrzynski officiating. At rest Heritage Cemetery, Portage, IN.
