JOHN T. MURAIDA age 94 of Merrillville formerly of Gary who was born June 20 1914 in Taylor Springs IL passed away Friday August 1 2008. He is survived by daughter Sharon Muraida of Valparaiso two sons: Gerald (Beth) Muraida of CA. and John L. (Chris) Muraida of TX five grandchildren: Lauren Adam and Joshua of CA John David and Alexa of TX one brother: Joe (Irene) Muraida of AZ sister Irene (Dick) Evans of DeMotte brothers-in-law: Chester (Dagney) Pesko of IL Ed (Tess) Bajgrowicz of Gary sisters-in-law Bernice Balicki of Crown Point Bella Hojnacki of Gary Godson Jerome (Sonja) Hojnacki of L.O.F.S. and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife Genevieve Jeanbrothers: Thomas Cy and Raymond Muraida parents Thomas and Anna (nee Vavrek) Muraida. Mr. Muraida was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church Gary and the churchs St. Cecelia Choir. John was the former owner of Muraida Grocery Store on 18th & Delaware. He graduated from Horace Mann Class of 1933 worked for 7-Up Bottling and was retired from Perfect Plus Hosiery. He was a member and past President of Silver Bell Club PNA Lodge 2365 President of Council 127 President of Dom Polski a member of PRCU sang in the Chopin Chorus was a member of the N.W. Indiana Retirees Club a Gold Card member of Gary Sportsmen Club and was Dist. 15 Man of the Year. John was a member of K of C Msgr. Joseph S. Ryder Council 4047 and a 4th Degree member of Abraham Lincoln Assembly. John served his country during World War II in the Army while stationed in England was a member and past commander of American Legion Post #207 and was a Life Member of VFW 1563. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville on Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. There will be a prayer service at 3:00 P.M. Silver Bell service at 3:30 P.M. a joint American Legion/V.F.W. service at 4:00 P.M. K of C Rosary at 7:00 P.M. and K of C Honor Guard from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 6 2008 at 9:15 A.M. from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 A.M. from St. Hedwig Catholic Church (1737 Connecticut St. Gary) with Rev. Jozef Zuziak officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Canine Companions for Independence P.O.
