IRENE M. JOHNSON (nee Feczko Fesko) age 81 of Merrillville passed away Friday July 20 2007. Survived by son Charles Joseph Johnson of Hebron daughter Nancy Johnson Krol of Lakes of the Four Seasons 4 grandchildren: Maren & Joseph Johnson Kyle & Kassy Krol sister Helen (late Mike) Chelle Olejnik of Merrillville and many nieces nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by husband Joseph daughter Kathleen Joanne KajoJohnson grandson Charles George 2 sisters: Ann Taylor & Mary Feczko. Mrs. Johnson was born in Gary and was a lifelong resident of Merrillville. She retired from the position of Secretary Clerk from Gary Housing & Urban Development Kellys Temporary Services for 10 years secretary at the Planning & Building Department for the town of Merrillville and bookkeeper for TrueGreen Lawn Care Services. She served with the U.S.O during W.W. II and traveled extensively over-seas entertaining the troops. She enjoyed various local club memberships while holding many officer positions from secretary to president such as the Leadership Council of America Homemakers Exchange Club General Federated Womens Club. She was a member of The New Church of the New Jerusalem and a former member of St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church. Irene was a loving mother that was a stay-at-homemom. She was a room momfor 3 children for all years of school. biddy basketballteam mom Brownie & Girl Scout Troop leader as well as support for ballet tap & jazz dance lessons guitar lessons and always in the audience for school programs plays recitals and sporting/cheerleading events. She was a tremendous cook making the best roasts chicken & dumplings spare ribs & sauerkraut and many other dishes. She was always a wonderful entertainer and hostess for many club and holiday celebrations. She was always dressed to the nineswith hair done up make-up on and matching jewelry. She will be sorely missed as our loving mom grandma aunt friend neighbor and co-worker. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville on Monday from 2-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 24 2007 at 11:30 A.M. from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev. Peter M. Buss Jr. Pastor of the Glenview New Church officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville. Memorials preferred to the DaVita Dialysis Center of Merrillville.
