Frank Traina

FRANK E. TRAINA age 84 of Merrillville passed away Saturday September 23 2006 at home with his family surrounding him. Frank was born October 25 1921 in Gary IN the son of Francesco & Filomena Traina. He was a loving and supportive husband father brother and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Anne daughter Anne (Rod) Weingart of Cedar Lake sons: Frank (Michele) Traina of Crown Point Louis (Lori) Traina of Crown Point & Sam (Lisa) Traina of Indianapolis grandchildren: Diane (Andrew) Miller Dan (Megan) Weingart Ashley Frank and Joey Traina Ethan Michael and Gianna Traina Tony and Julie Traina loving sisters: Ann (late Larry) Bavido of Michigan Fannie (late Nobie) Penzato of Merrillville and Betty (late Frank) Swigon of Valparaiso and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents sisters: Rosalia LizzieMarckese and Carmelina MillieMarino and infant brother Antonino Tony. Mr. Traina was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church K of C Msgr. Ryder Council #4047 a 4th Degree member of Santa Maria Venegas Assembly #2712 a former member of the American-Italian Benevolant Society V.F.W. Post #1563 and was a W.W.II Army/Air Corp. veteran. Frank was a graduate of Froebel High School Class of 1940 and received his B.S. from the I.U. School of Business. He worked for the Federal Housing Administration for 30 years first as an appraiser and eventually manager of the Gary office. He retired in 1979. While his children were growing up he was very involved in all of their activities academic and sports. He served as president of the Fieler P.T.A. coached Little League and Biddy Basketball also serving as president of the league for many years. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and participated in several leagues over the years. Most of all Frank was happiest when his entire family was together. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville on Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. with a prayer service at 3:00 P.M. and a K of C Rosary at 6:30 P.M. a 4th Degree Honor Guard will be held from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 27 2006 at 12:30 P.M. from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 1:00 P.M. from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Teles officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the SS. Peter & Paul Building Transformation Fund or St. Anthony Hospice.
