CELIA GARWOOD age 85 of Sacramento CA formerly Merrillville/Gary IN and Aurora/ Plano IL passed away on August 16 2011 at home with family by her side. She was born April 13 1926 in Irapuato Guanajuato Mexico the daughter of Pasquel & Ignacia (Rios) Chico. She was the beloved wife of Julian Guerrero Sr. who preceded her in death in 1982. She then became the beloved wife of Harry Garwood of Merrillville IN who died in 1995. Survived by sons Robert Guerrero of Bloomington IN Richard (Tanja) Guerrero of Sacramento CA daughters Cynthia (Hank) Barta of Winfield IL and Deborah (John) Nayback of Plano IL six grandchildren: Henry (Heather) Barta Thomas (Kara) Barta Daryl Nayback Joseph Nayback Nicole Nayback Rachel Guerrero three great grandchildren: Jayden Nayback Valerie Vargas Lucas Barta five step children: George Guerrero Julian (Nancy) Guerrero Jr. Nancy Bell Leah Beaman James Garwood many step grandchildren two sisters Estela & Ofelia of Mexico a sister-in-law and many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by parents Pasquel & Ignacia (Rios) Chico husbands Julian Guerrero Sr. & Harry Garwood brothers Salvador & Arturo Chico and sister Angelina Martinez. She was a retired R.N. of over 30 years at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart Indiana. Also served as a midwife in Mexico. Volunteered with Hospice Care. Member of Blessed Sacrament church in Gary IN St. Joan of Arc in Merrillville IN St. Ritas in Aurora IL St. Marys in Plano IL Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento CA. Belonged to many hispanic groups within the churches. Surely she was a devoted Catholic and a servant of God. Now the angels have taken her to our Lord and she is at peace. Family and friends may visit at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Services (6360 Broadway Merrillville Indiana) from 9:30 a.m. 10:15 a.m. on Saturday August 27 2011. Prayers will begin at Pruzin Brothers Chapel at 10:15 a.m. with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church (200 East 78th Ave. Merrillville IN). The burial will follow the mass at Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville IN. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to charity of your choice.
