BETTY ELIZABETH BUTH

BETTY JANE ELIZABETH BUTH, age 85 of Crown Point, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Chicagoland Christian Village, Crown Point, Indiana. She was born on November 29, 1927 to Lydia and Martin Teibel. She graduated from Dyer High School and attended Valparaiso and Indiana Universities. Betty Jane was a a waitress at Teibel's Restaurant, Schererville, Indiana. On June 27, 1951 Betty Jane was married to Wilbert Ernst Buth at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hammond, Indiana. The couple was blessed with 3 children: David (Jane) Buth of Naperville, IL; Linda (Eugene) Matzat of Walkerton, IN; and Gail (Richard) Brooks of Greenwood, IN: 7 grandchildren: Kristie (Luis) Orellana, Jeffrey Buth, Jennifer Buth, Andy Buth, Christopher (Letha) Brooks, Thomas Brooks, Gabrielle (Marcus) Crouch; and 5 great-grandchildren: Gary, Kaylee, and Abigail Brooks; and Lucas and Aubrianna Crouch. After almost 54 years of marriage, Betty Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Wil, on May 3, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her brother Robert Teibel and great-grandson, Brennen Brooks. Betty Jane was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Crown Point for over 50 years. Over the years she was active in Trinity League and PTA. Most recently, she was active in the church quilting group, making quilts for Lutheran World Relief to be shipped to people in Third World countries. She was also a member of St. Anthony Hospital's Auxiliary, making crafts for their annual Christmas Bazaar. Golfing and bowling were two sports she played, but she also enjoyed watching and rooting for Chicago Cubs. In her spare time, Betty Jane enjoyed meeting with friends to play bridge, dominos, and pinochle. Spending time with her family brought the most joy to her heart. To the end she was a strong witness, with her kind and gentle spirit, to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, 811 E. Franciscan Dr., Crown Point (south of St. Rd. 231 on St. Rd. 55) on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral service will be Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11:00 am. from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with a 1 hour visitation prior with Rev. David Kipp officiating. She will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
